Why we're building TravelUPI

I was back in Gurugram and wanted to buy something from a small seller. Partly because I needed it, mostly because I wanted to help them out.

I had no cash. Everyone around me was scanning a QR code. My UPI wouldn't work, because my NRI account was hard to fund and fixing it would take weeks.

So I walked away without buying it.

It was a small moment, but millions of NRIs and visitors hit the same wall every time they come to India.

It's time India's payments welcomed everyone who comes home.

Where we are today

TravelUPI is in development. We're starting in the UK, with the US and Canada planned next. Techapto Foundation research looks at how NRIs and visitors pay in India.
